Top Ten Tuesday: Books on my Spring TBR

Hosted by the lovelies at The Broke and The Bookish. :-)

Today's topic is Top Ten Books I plan on having in my beach bag this summer!

Off we go!

1. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
I own this one. I have no excuse.

2. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Maybe I'll get my sister to do a readalong with me? She seemed interested in this one. Plus, it's about SISTERS. So.

3. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
We are at a B&N
My sister: Oh yeah, I started reading that one.
Me: REALLY
My sister: Yeah, Samantha lent it to me.
Me: REALLY
My sister: So far, it was pretty good.
Me: REALLY

4. Looking For Alaska by John Green
I really want to give John Green another chance after my mediocre TFIOS experience, and everyone says Looking For Alaska is the way to go. Sorry, Paper Towns. You and your movie will have to wait.
99561

5. Fairest by Marissa Meyer
Now THIS is something to readalong with my sister, considering I'm the one who got her obsessed with The Lunar Chronicles.

22489107

6. Egg and Spoon by Gregory Maguire
Because I really need some more Slavic Fantasy. It's been too long since I read Ruin and Rising!

20708810
7. Splintered by AG Howard
I'm 80% done with this on audiobook, but it's been a while (months) since I last listened. Maybe I should start over in text form?

8. Something Sarah J. Maas
The Assassin's Blade? Or Throne of Glass? Court of Thornes and Roses? My darling booksters - tell me which to start with!

9. Soon I Will Be Invincible by Austin Grossman
Because Lifeline Theater (my favorite book-adapting theater ever!) has a production of this coming up!

645180

10. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Because there's all this fuss about Go Set a Watchman, and I haven't even read the first one! *hangs head in shame*

Now it's your turn! What are some books that will be hiding in your beach bag? Gosh, I love reading on the beach. <3

  1. I love the ToG series SO MUCH. Haven't read ACOTAR yet, but I've heard it's great. And gah, you MUST MUST MUST MUST read Fairest. Such an interesting look at Levana where you (kinda?) feel sorry for her and hate her even more. ;) Great list!

  2. Miss Peregrine's is great. I love all the old photographs that are worked into the story. :-)
You NEED to read Fairest. It is so... almost disturbing to see Levana. I almost feel sorry for her but I really can't because she is still terrible.
    Thanks for sharing your list!

    2. There are a lot of old photographs like the one on the cover. It is pretty cool.

  4. You should hang your head in shame! Not read To Kill a Mockingbird??!?!?!
    Just kidding. I guess it's forgivable. ;)

  5. I LOVED Fangirl and Throne of Glass!!! Splintered is on my tbr too, such lovely covers! :-) I read TKAM but it wasn't as great as I expected it to be, so a little disappointed there. It felt like the last quarter was the only bit I enjoyed but I respect what the book conveys though in that respect its message is very well put across :-) Here's my TT if you would like to check it out :-) Have a great day!

    1. Splintered does have some of the most mindblowing covers out there. And I'm superbly excited for Fangirl and Throne of Glass - they've been on my TBR for WAY too long!

That's too bad that you didn't adore TKAM, since adoration seems to be the general consensus? I'm glad you were able to appreciate it, though.

  6. I've only read Fangirl, ToG and TKaM of these. I wasn't thaaaat impressed by Fangirl or ToG, I mean not by the general book blogger standard, but they're definitely both worth a read. Fangirl is very good, to be honest. (I realise I'm madly contradicting myself. C'est la vie.)

To Kill a Mockingbird is absolutely brilliant and you will love it!

I really want to read Splintered. Also Egg and Spoon. Don't we all need some Slavic fantasy in our lives??

On my summer TBR ... there is the "the book blogosphere tells me to read them!" shortlist, which is Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Shiver, All the Bright Places, The Sky is Everywhere, The False Prince and We Were Liars. I'll also be madly reading Department 19: The Darkest Night aka the fiFTH AND FINAL BOOK IN THE D19 SERIES HOLD ME, which comes out on JUNE 4TH SO SOON SO SOOOON!!!! There'll probably also be some Game of Thrones on my summer list. Plus I need to read lots of classics so that I can talk intelligently in uni interviews when I apply for English in the autumn!

    1. YES. We all need Slavic Fantasy. Truer words have never been spoken. (I mean, written.)

Oooh I've never heard of The False Prince. I'm going to look it up. I've also never heard of Department 19, which, given your caps, I'm guessing is something I should look into? :P

Classics are good for uni interviews. They did help me lots last year when I applied, and saying Les Miz is your favorite book (which it is mine) can be extremely impressive. :-) GOOD LUCK

  7. Ohh these look good. I read Splintered, and I enjoyed the world and some characters. The only flaw is a love triangle, I despise love triangles.

    1. Aww love triangles can be quite crappy and I'm always wary of them. They do seem to be a given in YA books now, though, unfortunately. :-(
