January // The Month of Reevaluations

Phew! School's in full swing again! (Which is why it took me seven days to write this recap...)

Lots happened:

I went to Nashville! But it was for a conference so I didn't actually get to see any honky-tonks.

School started up again. I'm taking three science classes this semester, so it's sort of crazy, which is why I have been AWOL lately. I hope to return with more reviews and Top Ten Tuesdays when this bout of exams quiets down. I am probably going to be posting SUPER infrequently probably all the way through May, though. :-(

I started listening to audiobooks again. I'm currently listening to Splintered by A. G. Howard. I like it. (Thank you Cait.) But I only listen to it on the train, and I don't listen every ride. Most of the time I sleep or gaze at passing warehouses and realize how many Monmouth Maufacturing lookalikes there are in Chicago.
But I'm slowly getting through Splintered. :-)

I went on my first retreat. (A religious one.) That's the other reason why I've not been blogging - the retreat had no wifi and we had to give up our phones so that we couldn't tell time. It was actually kind of cool not knowing what time it was and just going with the flow and whatever came next.

I got an Instagram! This is EXTREMELY exciting. Here I am.

If I Stay and Where She Went by Gayle Forman (thanks Lauren!)
Scarlett Undercover by Jennifer Latham (MY FIRST ARC *flails* - thanks Novl!)
Under the Egg  by Laura Marx Fitzgerald (thanks Amanda!)

...And a fine New American Bible. I've been needing one that isn't coffee table sized! :-)

If I could pick some of my favorite authors to have a private writing class with, these are who I would pick.

(Told you January was the month of Reevaluations)

*flails with glee*

I'm kinda sad that I'll have to post so infrequently for the next few months, but it's all for the better (translation: I failed a bio test and am now scared - and motivated to study). I'll still be around, but just not as much as I'd like to be.

How was your January? Is 2015 treating you well?

  1. Luckily I haven't gotten all the way to failing any midterms. It's been close though; thank god my science grade was scaled. I don't know that I would say books and reading hold up my studying, but books and reading hold up my studying.

    1. BUT THEY DO. It's amazing. I need books so that I can stay calm for studying. It's a scientific fact. :-)

  2. Three science classes?!? Gosh, that sounds so difficult. I'm only in highschool and I'm only taking one science class, Chemistry, and that's hard. I totally understand wanting to put school before blogging. School is very important and must be prioritized. IT"S SO EXCITING THAT YOU GOT YOUR FIRST ARC! I'm hoping to start sending out ARC requests to publishers this month.

    1. I just dropped one. ;) I'm much happier now.

OH CHEMISTRY. That's my darling major. We have a love/hate relationship.

      Good luck with ARC requests!

  3. I AM SAD YOU WON'T BE AROUND MUCH. But I am happy you're listening to Splintered. XD DO YOU LIKE IT?!! *flails in eager anticipation* And sounds like an interesting retreat! I would...die. I love the time. I stopped wearing a watch a few years back because (apparently) it's better to play piano without a watch, but omg, I went through TIME WITHDRAWAL. haha! It sounds so silly, but I truly did miss my watch. 0.0
    Good luck with school!!

    1. I DO LIKE IT!

And the time thing - at first it was weird, but after a while I got in the hang of it (not completely, but mostly). And we counted time as Taylor Swift music videos instead of minutes or hours, so it was fine. "Take three Taylor Swift Music Videos now for a bathroom break before the next event!" :-)

Book discussions make the world a better place! Write me a comment - I respond to each and every one, I promise. So check back!

(YES! I LOVE TAGS and I do them! So tag away! But no bloggerly awards, though, like the Liebster or the Sisterhood of World Bloggers. Thank you!)
